Welcome to Wild Wings Raptors on the Road
Volunteer Pat Rose during a recent demo at Leroy NY.
Live Bird of Prey Demonstration : What is a raptor? Why and how are they different from other birds? The audience will be introduced to different families of raptors – an owl, a hawk and falcon. Learn the natural history, biology and physical adaptations of birds of prey. With many hands-on items we explore size, feathers, flying, hunting styles, beaks, feet and talons.
$175 + *mileage – for groups of up to 150 $350 + *mileage – for groups of over 150
Owl Pellet Dissection Workshop : Owls have always mystified people. Though these raptors’ nocturnal habits keep them out of sight, our “Bones, and Talons, and Pellets OH MY!” program will bring a Great Horned Owl, a Barn Owl, or Screech Owl (2 owls max.) into your classroom. Everyone will have a chance to dissect a real owl pellet and understand how these amazing stealth predators are tied to the food web. Learn why owls regurgitate pellets and how to match bones found in the pellets to bone charts. Bone charts, dissecting tools and magnifying glasses are provided. All pellets are pre-sanitized.
$175 + *mileage – for groups of up to 50, $3 per person for each additional person
Raptors for the Arts : Are you looking for a way to intrigue, excite and stimulate your students about art or photography? How about with a live hawk or owl? We provide live birds of prey as models for art or photography classes and courses. These magnificent birds provide a fantastic forum for teaching contrast, texture, hue and shading techniques. We will bring three raptors into your class to serve as models. Choose three of the following raptors Great Horned Owl, Red-tailed Hawk, Barn Owl, Screech Owl, Harris hawk or American kestrel. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for educators to engage students in the world of visual arts and photography.
